Framing Giants: Photo Activation Designed by Amel Janae

Set design and art direction of the featured photo backdrop at the Preview Party for Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys. “Framing Giants” transformed a nostalgic, lived-in family room into a site of cultural resonance. Inspired by the evocative works of Deana Lawson, Lorna Simpson, and Meleko Mokgosi, this immersive activation explored the intersections of memory, identity, and Black joy through textured textiles and intimate artifacts.

Collaborative Merchandise designed by Amel Janae of Under My Skin and Leon St. Heron of Heron Hues, sold at The Shop at MCASD. Featured items included Under My Skin logo t-shirts and hoodies printed and embroidered by Heron Hues, as well as hand-sewn and embroidered Under My Skin tote bags produced by Amel Janae.
